The way home for some returning veterans is through the arts. WFYI Indianapolis captures stories about how art has served as a turning point in the lives of several local servicemen and women. WYFI's effort benefits from partners like the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library and the Herron School of Art and Design.
WUSF co-organized the Veterans Legacy Summit which drew more than 1,000 people. It included a film festival of veterans' films; a national commemoration of a Patriot Plaza, the first privately funded art display and amphitheater at a national cemetery; and provided veterans resources from 28 veteran services organizations.
KLRN worked with The Telling Project and 12 local partner organizations to highlight local veterans' stories on stage and on the air through Telling: San Antonio. By sharing their stories, veterans processed what they’ve been through and helped civilians better understand the veteran experience.
